![]() : In this wood-paneled diner that looks more like a saloon, you can't see the pit where the staff slow-cooks the tender, juicy barbecue; but you sure can smell it. From a cafeteria-style line, guests choose from brisket, links, ribs, turkey, chicken or a combo. This joint is also known for its mustard-based barbecue sauce, which you can buy by the bottle to take home. Although the menu says plates are served after 2 p.m., don't even think about asking for an actual plate. The meat here is served on butcher paper. Sides, thankfully, come in bowls and are accompanied by silverware, but true aficionados just opt for a protein-packed lunch or dinner that can be carried out or unwrapped right there and washed down with a cold one. You can also consider a topper of a Texas brownie or homemade pecan pie. |
