Lumberyard Brewing Company Restaurant Review:
The name of this laid-back venue is not happenstance --- the downtown Flagstaff building it calls home is a fully restored holdover from the city’s days as a lumber hub. Owners Winnie and Evan Hanseth created a wide open space that still carries an industrial vibe, something that’s fortified by the behind-the-glass presence of the massive brewing equipment. Locals drop by to enjoy the craft beer produced on-site, including seasonal selections and special brews fashioned with intriguing ingredients and progressive techniques. Those who come in for more than just a pint can be assured that the food is not an afterthought. We recommend starting off with an order of deep-fried mac ‘n’ cheese balls or a bowl of the meaty red ale-infused chili. There are plenty of salads, sandwiches and burgers; try the banh mi-inspired Vietnamese burger featuring char siu pork, pickled daikon, sliced cucumber and cilantro. The small dessert menu is highlighted by the sea salt brownie sundae topped with house-made stout caramel sauce.
