THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Luna Park Restaurant Review:
Outfitted in flea market chic décor, with comfortable booths and a long, lively bar, this longtime favorite in the Mission offers playful eats and strong drinks (including an infamous, flaming scorpion bowl for two). Though many ingredients feature local pedigrees, the menu features generous portions and pretense-free dishes such as the “Tasty Burger” (from Painted Hills) and “Steakhouse Steak” (from Niman Ranch). Flavors are solid, homey and familiar. For appetizers head straight to the addictive carnival dogs---three types of sweet-coated sausage (kielbasa, chicken apple, chorizo)---served with a selection of mustards, or try the warm goat cheese fondue. Seasonal meat or vegetable entrées are all solid winners with classic appeal such as ravioli, savory roast chicken, squash and Brussels sprouts, pot roast, and country-fried trout. Desserts are large and include make-your-own s’mores. Points for the smile-inducing music playlist scattered with hair-band rock.
