THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lunch Basket Sandwich Shop Restaurant Review:

Since 1974, owner Ben Nicoll has been making sandwiches in this unassuming little lunch joint alongside busy Magnolia Ave. There's no time for idle chit-chat when you step up to give your order, so be prepared, because most days the line quickly begins to stretch out the door. If you prefer, you can place your order from the outside walk-up window and dine at one of the shaded picnic tables around back. Inside there are a handful of seats, but most orders are slipped in brown paper to-go bags. Lunch Basket fans go for the ultimate comfort food: Nicoll's warm meatloaf sandwich, best on simple white bread with a splash of ketchup. But there are thick subs with ham or turkey, chicken salad, roast beef, barbecued beef and pork or steak and onions. Or hot dogs. That's the basic menu, with sides of potato salad, cole slaw or baked beans. It's simple, efficient and filling, a formula that's kept Nicoll's in business for nearly three decades.
