Lupa Trattoria Restaurant Review:

From the front window's logo of the she-wolf attending to Romulus and Remus, founders of Rome, to the Umbrian olive oil that accompanies the table bread, it's easy to see that this restaurant hopes to saturate diners in the hospitality and cuisine of Italy’s capital city. The warm woods, cream accents, simple furniture and gleaming open kitchen give the family-run restaurant a modern look. Sit down to a limoncello apéritif and dig into Lupa's version of polenta. Buckwheat replaces the typical cornmeal, adding smoothness and heft, while wild mushrooms add an earthy flavor. For a lighter starter, try the sweet pear stuffed with mascarpone and wrapped in salty prosciutto. Pappardelle alla Romana marries tender bits of pork with chile flakes and black pepper for richness with a hint of spice. Further entrées include plump, house-made spinach and ricotta ravioli; pan-roasted wild salmon encased in crisp pancetta; and slices of roasted pork dressed with Marsala sauce and a spray of raisins and pine nuts. Classic tiramisu and flourless chocolate cake are the best dessert choices.
