It's a Smith family affair at this fresh fish and seafood restaurant, located on the break wall next to Maalaea Harbor. Condominiums line the area, which is filled with fishing and excursion boats. The Smiths own their own fishing boat and also buy from other fishermen when they see the flags come in. You can sit outside, although it often gets chilly and blustery, but the patio can be enclosed on a moment's notice. This is the spot to watch surfers and humpback whales in season. We like to start with the Caesar salad tossed tableside for two and the lobster chowder. Fresh fish is available nine different ways from healthy to downright dangerous (hollandaise and king crab stuffing). We enjoyed the opakapaka en bastille---in jail, that is, inside a tight cage of delicate brown shoestring potatoes. There's often fresh game on the menu and an extensive, remarkably well-chosen and well-priced selection of California wines.
