Magnolias at the Mill Restaurant Review:

This destination setting in Purcellville looks like an old mill, which it is. Actually, it stopped operating as a mill in the 1990s, and to keep the air of old-time country customs, the interior evokes a farmhouse with wooden floors, beams, tables and posts, and even wagon wheels hanging from the ceiling. Despite the rustic atmosphere, the food is very similar to what one would find in a high-end American restaurant in DC, focusing on daily specials and selections for kids and options that are gluten-free and for brunch and late night. But for those who arrive midday, the choices are compelling. Start with the firecracker shrimp rolls with a spicy dip or maybe the milder tuna lollipops, before considering mains ranging from salads to pizzas and sandwiches to Cajun seafood or fish ‘n’ chips. Consider the spicy sandwich of chicken breast coated in ghost chilies and a corn flake crust. Much of the dinner menu is the same, though entrées become more formalized with cioppino, hickory-grilled swordfish and hand-cut steaks. The pastry chef sends out sweets such as a mini coconut tartlet garnished with toasted shredded coconut. Peruse the extensive array of wine, cocktails and beer.
