THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW A PRIVATE EVENT SPACE Maison & Jardin Restaurant Review:

Since the late 1950s, the Mason Jar, as locals affectionately refer to this restaurant, has been the place to dress up and go for dinner or Sunday brunch. The tranquil setting is beautiful, a Mediterranean-style villa on five sprawling acres shaded by ancient oak trees, furnished with Oriental rugs, Austrian crystal and antique mirrors. Owner Bill Beuret, a noted wine enthusiast, is often there to greet longtime customers. Sadly, the food has been uninspiring our last few visits. We do love the old-fashioned blinis à la Russe, a starter we always share. The rich little crêpes are flamed tableside with brandy, filled with sour cream and caviar and served with a glass of frosted vodka. For main courses, the simple filet or veal medallions are safe bets. The high point of Maison & Jardin is the wine cellar, with an astounding 12,500 bottles---1,350 different selections. Beuret travels the world to stock this treasure.
