THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Manuel's Tavern Restaurant Review:

Civil War scenes, photos of owner Manuel Maloof, an old photo of former Governor Lester Maddox and similar memorabilia line these light wood walls. The bar is bigger than the one on North Highland Ave., and the atmosphere is completely different. Like the original, this tavern doubles as a sports bar with 11 TVs devoted to whatever’s most exciting. The food here is basic country cooking, with the same hefty meat loaf and ribs as good specials. Sides of collard greens and mashed potatoes are best accompaniments. The veggie burger didn’t do well here, so it’s not available, but this one does omelets. Otherwise, the two restaurants share such items as the steak sandwich, the beer-steamed hot dog , the outstanding chicken wings with house-made bleu cheese dressing, the excellent homemade chili and black beans, and good desserts.
