MARBAR Restaurant Review:

Experienced restaurateur Humberto Bermúdez chose Decatur to open MAR (now MARBAR), which features authentic Mexican seafood. Fresh green and red salsas are brought to the table with crisp tortilla chips, and neither salsa is excessively hot but both are fresh tasting. Guacamole is chunky, with just a touch of picante; we also like the queso fundido with bits of house-made chorizo. Small plates focus on cebiche, ranging from small scallops to mixed shellfish and octopus. Most of the menu proposes healthful fare, such as grilled shrimp and bacon with grilled onions in a taco. Only one of the main plates is offered at lunch in a midday-size portion: chicken-filled enchiladas verdes. Desserts don’t seem to fit the fare. A diverse beer list with a few unusual selections, a mostly Spanish wine list, and a raft of tequilas and mezcal-based cocktails compose the libations.
