Marigold Kitchen Restaurant Review

: Marigold Kitchen inhabits an elegant townhouse on leafy 45th Street in University City under the direction of executive chef Keith Krajewski and chef-owners Andrew Kochan and Tim Lanza. The focus is on eclectic American cuisine fashioned with locally sourced ingredients and a dash of snazzy molecular gastronomy. The 12-course tasting menu ($90) has featured dishes such as Backyard BBQ, which features frozen dots with the flavors of a summer salad, beef tartare standing in for a burger, and sautéed potato gnocchi representing potato salad. The Bahn Mi, an homage to the iconic Vietnamese sandwich, takes the form of a salad of charred cucumber, carrot, pickled daikon and cashews, dressed in jalapeño vinaigrette and Sriracha honey. Each plate is artfully composed with as much attention paid to details of color and texture as to the marriage of inventive flavors. Deconstructed apple pie might complete the experience. BYO.
