Murmurs of appreciation rise from discreet corners of this pleasant, but low-lit café as customers enjoy the standard Turkish repertoire of meze and kebabs. Meze from £2.20 (or a set combination at £11.50) suits both carnivores and vegetarians. Yoghurt and fried or spring onions enliven many of them, including lambs’ liver, meat balls, Turkish sausage, aubergine and artichoke and a notable yoghurt salad with flat parsley. Turkish beer and wines are unmemorable but acceptable at the price, and good Turkish coffee is accompanied by Turkish Delight.
