: Massimino's, staunchly southern Italian, is a rustic joint that serves huge portions of food at reasonable prices. Signatures include gnocchi sautéed in garlic and onions with romano cheese, fettuccine Alfredo, chicken cacciatore, and Parm dishes of all kinds --- eggplant, chicken, veal. We like the kitchen’s take on traditional lobster ravioli, made not with a cream-based sauce but rather served in a red fra diavolo sauce with shrimp. Nearly every entrée is under $20, which might be the best find in the otherwise pricey North End. A visit would be remiss without a limoncello and tiramisu for dessert. The one drawback: service is topnotch for insiders, only so-so for outsiders. |
