THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Massoni Restaurant Review:

The NoMad neighborhood just keeps getting cooler and cooler, and Massoni is proof. Chef Dale Talde, David Massoni and John Bush call their fare at Massoni “Italianish,” which makes sense --- Italian by way of New York City. There’s a warm vibe, a buzzing bar and colorful murals on the exposed brick walls. Massoni is one of the group’s several projects at the Arlo NoMad. A bar named BARlo occupies the second floor, plus there’s a takeout spot called Bodega and The Heights rooftop bar. Chef Talde’s fluffy pancakes with prosciutto and grain bowl with ’nduja and a fried egg are a decidedly delicious way to start the day. The dinner menu features plenty of pastas and square pan pizzas. The latter achieve a chewy-crispy medium and are topped with simple yet inventive goodies like clam, potato and parsley and pepperoni, pickled peppers and honey. (Why doesn’t more pepperoni pizza get a drizzle of honey? The sweetness makes the spicy/meaty pizza sing.) A brick chicken with Calabrian spiced yogurt and Chinese mustard greens is juicy and addictive. Cocktails like the Wakefield and Forest Hills get their names from New York neighborhoods, and a funky wine list has some surprisingly affordable bottles. Finish with a no-holds-barred ice cream sundae, piled high with Oddfellows ice cream, whipped cream, hot fudge, brownie pieces and sprinkles galore.
