THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED MeMe's Diner Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: Co-owners Libby Willis and Bill Clark are behind this hip spot in Prospect Heights. The bright, spacious diner is minimally decorated with globe lights, potted plants, and a wall full of portraits. There’s a certain diner nostalgia, yet MeMe's feels totally of the moment and wonderfully unique. Plan to wait in line for weekend brunch.

Likes: Cheerful décor; Everything Bagel Babka; patty melt; cake and pie.
Dislikes: Waits can be long.

Food & Drinks: At MeMe's Diner, brunch gets artfully reimaged – take the Milk and Cereal, a silky yogurt panna cotta topped with Cara Cara oranges, kiwi, and Corn Pops for crunch. The Everything Bagel Babka, flaky layers of pastry marbled with scallion cream cheese, should be a brunch staple everywhere. It’s like the real deal, but many times more delicious. Lunch and dinner are a tiny bit less busy and just as fun. Start with MeMe’s BBQ Meatballs, coated in hoisin sauce and served with toothpicks. For vegetarians, there’s a gigantic coconut crusted sweet potato in mole and tomatillo sauces. An absolute must for omnivores is the patty melt, all smashed on marbled rye with plenty of caramelized onion and gooey American cheese. It’s served with a little bowl of cheese puffs. Cake and pie selections change regularly, and whatever the flavor of the day is, it’s not to be missed. Wash it down with MeMe’s Punch, a concoction of rum, ginger, lime, passion fruit and cava, or a glass of wine from the short but quite thoughtful list.
