Akbar Cuisine of India Restaurant Review:

Akbar offers well-prepared Indian food at reasonable prices in a comfortable, contemporary setting. The tandoor produces not only the usual chicken, kebabs and puffy breads, but also such specialties as Chilean sea bass marinated in a variety of herbs. Chefs make the chutneys --- coconut, cilantro and pickled vegetable --- fresh daily. Curries include New Zealand spring lamb leg tenderly cooked with spinach and ginger, as well as chicken in an exotic cashew saffron sauce, and shrimp with garlic, ginger, celery and mushrooms. There are vegetarian choices, too, like eggplant and potato curry and mushrooms in a cilantro sauce, and a large selection of tandoor baked breads including naan topped with mint, cilantro and basil or stuffed with raisins, pistachios and almonds. Mango cheesecake is one of the refreshing desserts. In addition to the requisite Indian beers, there's a well-chosen and fairly priced wine list. If you've never tried wine with Indian food, it's time to take the plunge.
