Alcazar Tapas Bar Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: It’s been said that good things come in small packages and in the case of Alcazar, a Spanish tapas joint in Santa Barbara’s Mesa neighborhood, small is good indeed. Alcazar’s narrow restaurant is lively and energetic with red-orange walls, random art and a cool local vibe; it's the kind of place you’d want to stumble upon hidden in a strip mall. They run a film (sound off) on the wall above the kitchen, adding to the hip factor.
Food & Drinks: Dishes include the patatas bravas --- diced red potatoes lightly fried and mixed with a spicy aïoli --- and the four medjool popper-size dates filled with blue cheese and wrapped in a house-cured bacon with a drizzle of honey. The "Lamburgini" consists of two lamb sliders mixed with raisins, mint and pesto. Also worth noting is the avocado hummus served with warm, soft pita bread. The bar offers everything from Brazilian caipirinhas and Chilean pisco sours to Cuban mojitos.
