Artusi Restaurant Review:

Though conceptually launched as a bar, this slender street-corner sibling to the elegant Spinasse has since evolved into its own style of Italian bistro where forward-thinking chefs dream up creative pastas, perhaps featuring a strawberry-vodka cream sauce. The menu focuses on appetizers and features light snacks such as sweet and spicy roasted hazelnuts with controne chile and muscovado sugar, or complex starters such as a cauliflower salad bathed in anchovy dressing and tossed with raisins, broccoli rabe, pine nuts and Pecorino Romano. Duck capunet with figs and hazelnuts and chicken confit round out the larger plates. A chef’s tasting menu is also available. Dessert follows Italian tradition with sorbetto or a freshly baked cookie, although a pine nut Strega tart with juniper cream is tempting. Wines present a wide array of Italian selections, and there’s a limited beer list. Cocktails are the heart of the operation, however, employing a variety of Italian aperitivi as bases: Cocchi Americano, Aperol, various amari, for example. Summer brings the famous slushies enabling guests to enjoy a blended drink made for adult tastes. We recommend the Redrum Mojito, a mix of Campari, Smith & Cross rum, lime juice and mint.
