Big Sky Cafe Restaurant Review:
Outdoor dining in a lovely wine garden, perhaps before the opera or theater, is one of Big Sky’s chief claims to fame. But it deserves to be more than a summertime stopover. Big Sky also hosts pre-theater crowds in a converted house with a slightly raucous, hand-painted sensibility. The loosely applied theme is home-style American reinterpreted, translating to dishes like curried sweet potato and vegetable soup, and pot roast braised in red wine. Keep an eye out for the sage-inflected macaroni and cheddar cheese, dappled with bacon and covered with crumbs of the cornbread that's in each breadbasket. For dessert, we recommend the cobblers and crisps with seasonal fruit, although many customers seem never to get farther than caramel apple-pecan pie. A solid, reasonably priced wine list promotes lingering.
