The Blind Tiger Pub Restaurant Review:
Nineteenth-century Charleston's answer to state-controls on liquor, “blind tigers” sprang up throughout the “Holy City” to keep the thirsty happy. The Blind Tiger Pub carries on the proud tradition in a historic building divided into several small rooms with a weathered brick courtyard outside. Locals and the college crowd collide regularly for shots, beers, better-than-average bar food and regular live music. The food is elevated with farm fresh ingredients when available. On the menu, an adults-only hangover helper tomato soup leads the charge of salads, wraps, pitas, tacos and sandwiches. Burgers of beef, elk, and black bean are available to suit every persuasion. The kitchen will accommodate vegetarian and vegan preferences as well. Daily specials feature deals like the Wednesday pound-and-a-half mussels paired with a discounted glass of wine. Don't look for desserts; they rarely serve anything sweet. Local brews are available on the suds list, which is extensive, and some wines are offered. Lists change seasonally.
