With a sleek ambience and chic presentations, this seafood emporium ranks among the best offerings by the Tampa-based Outback Steakhouse empire. The menu includes six to eight varieties of fresh fish each evening, with a standard line-up of toppings and sauces from which diners can create a custom entrée. Grilled filets arrive at the white paper-covered tables caramelized on the outside, tender and slightly translucent inside. Sauces range from piquant lime-tomato-garlic to salty-sweet teriyaki ginger glaze, and toppings include combinations of crab meat, spinach, artichoke hearts, bacon, Gorgonzola, mushrooms, shrimp, macadamias and lobster bits. Do start with an order of the corn chowder laced with bacon bits and plump pillows of crab meat. Still, the Bang Bang shrimp are the coin of the realm. Desserts aren't the kitchen's tour de force, but the Key lime pie is properly tart and authentic. Although this location is always crowded, expectant diners are herded to a separate bar area, leaving the low-key, attractive dining room reasonably conversation-friendly.
