Cafe Ole Restaurant Review:

Chef Javier Lopez creates comforting-yet-sophisticated dishes with Tex-Mex flair at this beloved Midtown eatery. Inside, the restaurant is rather loud on busy weekend nights, but the large, outdoor patio is where it’s at on warm weather days. Start with house-made chips and guacamole or shrimp lollipops, and then sample Lopez’s lobster tamales or build-your-own quesadilla or fajitas. While Café Ole’s margaritas are likely the most popular beverage, it’s worth branching out and sampling one of the gourmet cocktails, such as the Flaming Palm Tree (named for an incident when a patio palm caught on fire) with rum, pineapple juice, crème de coconut, orange juice and Bacardi 151. The small wine list leaves much to be desired, so order one of the above-mentioned cocktails or the house-made sangría or margarita (frozen or on the rocks). Even the desserts contain alcohol --- try the fudgey brownie with vanilla ice cream and Patrón.
