Owned and operated by the Cea family since 1993, Cafe Prima Pasta has expanded over the years adding a warren of rooms with polished wood paneling, photos of celeb guests and a covered sidewalk patio. Standout house-made fresh pastas sauced with an abundant hand are the norm, such as meatballs swirling in marinara sauce and fresh ricotta or crab-stuffed raviolotti in creamy lobster sauce and squid ink linguine with fra diavolo sauce. Veal specialties such as piccata with white wine-lemon sauce or a paillard giardino-style topped with chopped salad are also offered. But perhaps the star of the show is the archetypal lasagna Bolognese, made from a family recipe for generations. Nice Italian and Argentine red wines by the glass are a good deal and large portions and family-friendliness keep customers coming, especially from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. daily, when the regular menu is half-price. Make room for Mama Cea’s apple tart.
