Centroamericana Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Small and not terribly attractive, this Metairie restaurant specializes in hearty, bargain-priced Nicaraguan cuisine. Dishes include sopa de res (beef soup with corn tortillas) and a chorizo con huevo appetizer (grated egg, sausage and rice dip for tortillas, served with salsa). Dinner plates are assembled as veritable feasts with such entrées as charbroiled chicken or tenderloin pork arriving with red beans and rice (mixed or separate), salad and fried plantains, which you may request lightly fried and sweet, or salty and crispy. Speaking of plantains, don’t overlook them with flank steak. There are no desserts. Beer lovers will enjoy the selection of Central American brews. Staff is super friendly.
