Cooter Brown's Tavern & Oyster Bar Restaurant Review:

College students and older folks mix easily at Cooter Brown's, all in the name of beer and football. The place boasts a roster of 400 domestic and imported beers (including more than 40 on tap). But Cooter's has a few compelling offerings in the food department as well. The small oyster bar turns out freshly shucked local bivalves until as late as 2 a.m., while the tavern kitchen serves links of hot boudin and upwards of two dozen po' boys stuffed with the likes of alligator sausage and soft-shell crabs. There’s also a Chicago-style hot dog with all the trimmings, burgers, fried seafood and typical bar snacks such as cheese fries. To get there, take the streetcar as far uptown as it goes, to stop #43, and then walk a block to the restaurant.
