Cosme Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Chef Enrique Olvera, of Mexico City restaurant Pujol, brings his Mexican cuisine to discerning Manhattan diners in the buzzy yet romantic Cosme. (The name was inspired by the Mercado de San Cosme, a famous food market in Mexico City.) The dimly lit dining room has been decorated very simply, aside from some greenery.

Food & Drinks: Sip a mezcal-laced cocktail while perusing the menu, which may seem compact in terms of choices, but each dish is filled with exciting twists and tastes. Ingredients are sourced locally, where possible, but also from their homeland to maintain each dish's integrity. Mexican products like corn and chiles are sprinkled throughout the offerings. Among the starters, you'll find octopus tostada, as well as a contemporary take on tacos al pastor that subs in cobia in place of pork. Duck carnitas, Olvera's version of the Peking favorite, are tender and filling. The husk meringue with corn mousse is a dessert you won't find anywhere else. The wine list highlights selections from Spain, France and Italy, with several Mexican wineries checking in.
