Dok Bua Restaurant Review:

Brookline’s Dok Bua (lotus flower) offers an extensive, atypical and authentic menu with Burmese-influenced Northern specialties, rootsy favorites from a region in Northeastern Thailand, and basic noodle dishes like pad kee mao (drunken noodles) and aromatic green or red curries. Get started with a sampling of poa-pia tod (crispy egg rolls) or the tasty grilled beef before moving on to a cup of tom yum koong soup (spicy shrimp and lemon grass). We also suggest the sticky rice topped with puck-boong (stir-fried chicken and shrimp). There is a good selection of vegetarian dishes, too. Upon request, flavors are amplified in the same fashion as one would find on a street in Bangkok. Finish your meal with baked taro custard or durian ice cream. Like its namesake, Dok Bua is a rare beauty indeed, at least in these parts.
