Doma Na Rohu Restaurant Review:
In its previous incarnation, this West Village spot was nearly an institution. In a different location, it was a Village coffee spot with a great atmosphere and décor that attracted local writers and artists and the occasional celebrity. But the Czech owners lost their lease and decided to move south a few blocks. They also changed the concept. Doma Na Rohu, which means “At Home on the Corner” in Czech, is less of a coffeehouse and more of a restaurant, complete with table service. The menu is mostly Eastern European with sausages and sauerkraut, chicken paprikash and a very good take on beef goulash. Even better, though, is the beer selection, with the hard-to-find-on-these-shores Czech brew Bernard on tap plus a few nice German varieties.
