El Cholo Restaurant Review:
Students and families like the good margaritas and festive atmosphere, which are practically guaranteed at El Cholo. The food is pretty good, too. Menu items include spinach and Jack cheese enchiladas with corn and tomato salsa; top sirloin beef tacos with bacon and tomatillo-chipotle salsa, served with black beans and rice; roasted pork with avocado relish and sautéed onions; and the famous homemade green corn tamales, which you can get only, alas, from May through October. The patio’s a nice place to relax, where diners can settle under one of the umbrellas. A variety of margaritas with flavors like mango, coconut, pink guava and prickly pear pair well with the Santa Monica breeze.
