The Elbow Room quickly became the "place to be" when it opened and as the West Hartford center continued to expand, this place has held its own as one of the "Grand Dames" of the dining and social scene. Wallet-friendly food along with the only rooftop bar in this upscale community contribute to its popularity. Expect Caesar salads, fried oysters, pot roast with mashed potatoes, macaroni loaded with cheese, a burger with caramelized onions on a toasted Kaiser roll, and the old favorite cornmeal-crusted chicken with pan gravy. Watch for daily specials, too, as well as family-favorites panini, sandwiches, soups, salads and small plates. Desserts change often but choices include apple crisp and Tollhouse cookie pie. Cocktails are a blend of classic and eclectic, ranging from Manhattans to peach margaritas. The wine list features dozens of American, French and Italian options.
