Located on the third floor of a multi-purpose wooden building, the Gambling Cowboy is equal parts elegant dining and a raucous good time --- especially on Friday and Saturday nights, when there’s live music either in the bar or out on the verandah. For a more intimate experience, request a table away from the barn-like main room and striking mahogany bar, on the other side of the attractive etched glass. Start with the raspberry chipotle Brie, which is served in a flaky phyllo purse --- cheese oozes out and the chipotle adds a nice kick. Bacon-wrapped scallops are capably seared and placed atop a rich cream sauce that pairs well with the suggested Hart Family Sauvignon Blanc. A classic Caesar salad delivers on its tangy lemon-kissed dressing. The house special, a 24-ounce certified Angus rib-eye, is a fleshy behemoth that benefits from a pinch of salt; order it a degree of doneness less than normal to be on the safe side. The signature roasted corn is your best bet for a side; it’s quite good. Dessert options include two cheesecakes, a brownie martini and bread pudding topped with Jack Daniel’s caramel sauce.
