Gennaro Restaurant Review:
Gennaro Picone, once on the fast track to becoming one of the city's most noted Italian chefs, gave it up to open this topnotch neighborhood spot. Caution: Call ahead; if he doesn't feel like cooking he may close up shop for the night. It's cash only and there's a modest wine list, but Picone's warm potato and portobello tart with goat cheese; orecchiette with broccoli and melted provolone; and slow-braised lamb shank in red wine sauce with Israeli couscous are captivating.
