Germantown Cafe Restaurant Review:

Once the anchor of a quieter neighborhood near Nashville’s downtown, the Germantown Café now enjoys an expansive and illuminated nighttime view. Its plum walls are lined with contemporary art, and gerbera daisies brighten the tables. The menu stays true to the region’s classics, such as fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, grilled sirloin and mac ‘n’ cheese, as well as regulars’ favorites, like plum pork medallions and coconut curry salmon. Should you find yourself in Nashville in the middle of a cold snap, head here straightaway and get a bowl of French onion soup, a rich and buttery broth capped with Swiss cheese. At brunch, try the spicy shrimp over pepper jack grits or the steak Benedict. The mostly California-based, value-oriented wine list’s selections are almost all available by the glass, and there are some large format offerings as well. Desserts include well-done classics such as crème brûlée.
