This French-inspired restaurant in the historic district of a suburban neighborhood is the place to go for birthday celebrations and Sunday brunches. Much remains the same since it opened in 1975. It has an old-fashioned atmosphere and friendly service. It's a place you'd be proud to take your grandparents; fortunately, here, you won't be rushed. Three things stand out about Grand Finale: its over-the-top desserts (try the mountainous wedge of chocolate cordial pie), the crêpes (sweet or savory) and the house salad dressing (creamy avocado). Dinner specialties include steaks or the popular sherry-marinated ginger chicken. Even the children's menu has elegant options, like grilled shrimp or steak chunks served with fresh vegetables and wild rice or mashed potatoes. For grown-ups, there's a wide variety of dessert wines, Spanish sherries and ports. And the Grand Happy Hour offers everything from lobster deviled eggs to pistachio salmon cakes or artichoke fritters to wash down with $3.50 imported beers or $6 martinis.
