Harbor Seafood & Oyster Bar Restaurant Review:
Anyone who says there's no reason to drive all the way to the suburbs for good seafood probably has not experienced this Kenner restaurant. If you go at peak meal hours, plan to join the overflow at the bar or browse the adjacent Fisherman's Cove Seafood Market. Neither décor nor fancy dress matters. TVs and fluorescent ceiling lighting illuminate the bare-bones interior. Paper towels function as bibs and napkins, and you can hear the beer lights buzzing in those rare quieter moments. Harbor Seafood serves icy cold beer and oysters costing just $8 per dozen, and if you can find cheaper oysters --- especially during happy hour --- we'd like to know where. During crawfish season, the etouffée is thick and aromatic, and the boiled crawfish are fresh and densely spiced. Fried alligator, stuffed artichokes, fried pickles and the fried crab claws stand out on a menu that otherwise lists the standard seafood-house fare. Only four wines are offered as beer is the quaff to target, besides the cocktails. For dessert, the bread pudding is the most popular choice.
