Harlowe Restaurant Review:

Harlowe, like its seductive thespian namesake, is a true Deco-themed beauty. Vintage fixtures, wood and marble create a luxe setting, and the front patio lends an airy feel. It’s billed more as a bar, but the menu, makes it a spot you can drop by early or late with any kind of appetite. Even jaded cocktail buffs will be impressed by house-made classics on draft, and here you’ll find one of the better Negronis in town, accented with charred and smoked cherrywood. Other sultry libations pique the imagination and the palate, like “Beets to the Rhyme,” a garnet-hued concoction of pisco, mezcal and falernum infused with beets, balsamic, lime and bitters. Ubiquitous charred Brussels sprouts transcend mere earthiness with an unexpected mélange of fresh grapes, capers and tarragon. Roasted beets and carrots are likewise kicked into high gear with goat cheese, clementines and mojo verde. An open-face bologna sandwich may sound unappealing, but it’s really closer to charcuterie, and combines melted Gruyère, a fried egg and grainy mustard on flavorful, chewy bread. For dessert, don’t miss creamy panna cotta with rum-drunken pineapple.
