Havana's Pilon Restaurant Review:

This mom-and-pop Cuban eatery may not look fancy on the inside, but the service is warm and the food is comforting. A selection of empanadas includes ham, chicken, beef, shrimp or the vegetarian guava and cheese. But the entrées, which come with a choice of two sides, shine. Try the ropafongo (shredded beef over mashed fried plantains with fried pork skin, garlic and oil) or the berenjena (stewed eggplant with onion, pepper and cilantro in tomato sauce). On the side, the black beans and rice is not too wet/not too dry. Of course, there’s a traditional Cuban sandwich of roasted pork, ham and Swiss cheese. For dessert, try the mango or guava milkshakes. Havana’s Pilon does not serve alcohol, but it does offer non-alcoholic Malta Goya, a beverage made from barley and hops.
