Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa is a short distance from downtown Austin but feels worlds away due to its sweep of golf courses and dramatically hilly vistas. Its expansive, upscale Hill Country Dining Room, which is open to club members and the public, draws families, business folks and dinner guests with its polished service and tranquil view of the lush Fazio Foothills golf course and resort pool. USDA Prime Midwestern steaks are the primary dinner features, including a bone-in Niman Ranch rib-eye. Steaks (as well as lamb and pork chops) can be topped with your choice of four adornments, our favorites being a crust of blue cheese, or Oscar style. Looking beyond red meat, the Maine lobster potpie is worth the trip all on its own. We always choose the truffle mac ‘n’ cheese and sautéed foragers mushrooms to share as sides. Though we’re tempted not to share the chocolate Kahlúa dream cake, even though it's meant for two.
