Hunan Manor Restaurant Review:
Beef and broccoli in garlic sauce and General Tso's chicken may be on the menu, but Hunan Manor is anything but standard-issue. A rosewood exterior and a typical Chinese-style interior complete with red lanterns and glass mosaic decorative accents are pleasant albeit conventional. However, the menu will satisfy both the conservative and adventurous palate. To get a true sense of Hunan cuisine, try the frog in spicy soup and "Chairman Mao's" red-braised pork. Though one’s tolerance for spice will be tested, the kitchen is more than willing to moderate levels upon request. Other specialties include sautéed pork stomach with smoked bamboo, and a "numbing and hot" chicken, both with white or brown rice. Moo shu chicken and braised sliced beef with chili sauce are more familiar options.
