Il Piccolo Verde Restaurant Review:

A pleasant neighborhood restaurant in the upscale community of Brentwood Village, Il Piccolo Verde counts local office workers and denizens from nearby Bel Air among its patrons. Co-owner Oscar Morel, who spent more than two decades at Spumoni in Santa Monica, presents classic Italian fare all day from lunch to dinner in a sunny yellow space with a semi-enclosed patio. Olive oils and other Italian products are displayed on a shelf along the open kitchen. Nibble on the complimentary flatbread and order pastas like homemade ravioli or Pappardelle Mar e Monti (pappardelle pasta in white wine sauce with mushrooms, clams, shrimp, spinach and truffle oil). Pizzas are available New York-style and Neapolitan, the latter of which are fired in a wood-burning oven that was handmade in Naples. Keep it simple with the burrata pizza adorned with tomato sauce, hunks of burrata and torn basil leaves. The Verde Naturale (Natural Green) section of the menu features health-conscious options like a very good farro salad that's hearty enough to be a meal on its own. Several gluten-free choices, such as Lemon Chicken Naturale, can be also be found. If you're inclined to indulge, the light and fluffy tiramisu makes for a fine finale. There is a decent selection of beers and a growing Italian wine list with more wines by the glass thanks to Le Verre de Vin wine preservation system. Il Piccolo Verde also offers catering, takeout and delivery within four miles.
