For many Denverites the Imperial is the undisputed king of Americanized Chinese food. The dining room is a regal one, with all of the elegant touches for elevating your meal to a higher plane. Service is professional and accommodating, and the food meets a similar high standard, especially when it comes to seafood. The Imperial was the first Chinese eatery in the area to serve whole steamed sea bass, and the dish is somewhat of a trademark. Today, the fish is prepared in several different ways: try it sliced and stir-fried in black-bean sauce with onions and peppers. The Dungeness crab dusted with five-spice powder and deep-fried is another attraction, served with a pungent ginger-scallion sauce. Hunan beef and various chicken dishes are also options for families, tourists and business lunchers.
