A wood-rich, rustic interior befits the hearty fare served within these walls. Smokers turn pork shoulders, ribs and beef brisket into the basics of barbecue. Classic Southern fare beyond ’cue is consistently good in this far-flung chain that's based in Birmingham, Ala. Savor the smoked pork hot links, four spicy, nicely textured and quite large sausages, with pimento cheese and saltine crackers --- a great snack if you're in a hurry or a starter to share. Thankfully, the well-seasoned meat doesn't need the too ketchup-y barbecue sauce. We also recommend the smoked beef brisket and pulled pork. Slaw made from hand-cut vegetables, potato salad and collards are among the better sides. Classic pies made in-house supply worthwhile desserts --- go for the coconut cream. Brews make the best quaffs with the food. As do other locations in this chain, this one has a generous bar.
