Kahuna Grill is heavy on the Hawaiian kitsch. Surfboards and faux palm trees dot the interior. It’s a great spot for families, as it’s inexpensive and entertaining. Californian fare such as turkey burgers with jack cheese, tri-tip sandwiches and salads make up most of the menu. Authentic Hawaiian-style lunch plates include two scoops of sticky rice served alongside your choice of teriyaki chicken, steak or fish. Good old mainland burgers, however, are the Grill’s best assets, in essence burgers with whatever topping you want, including fried eggs and green chiles. For dessert, it’s all about the shakes, available in 10 flavors like lemon, Kona coffee and pineapple.
