Katsuya by Starck South Beach Restaurant Review:

Katsuya by Starck South Beach at the SLS Hotel is another collaboration of master sushi chef Katsuya Uechi and designer Philippe Starck. There's a sushi bar and round, high-ceilinged dining room decorated in a striking red and white color scheme. Upstairs is the Dragon Lounge, featuring murals from Miami-based artist Jona Cerwinske.

Sushi, sashimi and Japanese dishes comprise the menu, which includes signatures like the crispy rice with spicy tuna, salmon sashimi topped with caviar, and Wagyu tobanyaki with wild mushrooms. Among larger dishes are lobster dynamite and miso-marinated black cod. For dessert, you'll find mochi ice cream and fried plantains served with vanilla ice cream and a sweet black sesame sauce. The wine list is short with mostly French and California wines, and includes a nice selection of sakés. Cocktails range from a watermelon-cucumber mojito to a white grapefruit cosmopolitan.
