This old-style Mexican restaurant is an enduring fixture across from historic Sonoma Mission. Somehow the glazed terracotta floors, dull pottery scattered about, and stiff wood chairs blend into its immediate locale better than swankier digs like most neighboring restaurants on the square. Spoon scorching salsa onto mammoth basic burritos, enchiladas, chimichangas and tamales to help refuel and awaken after too much wine tasting nearby. Rice, beans and decorative roughage obliterate any bare space on your plate or in your appetite. It’s all tasty enough, though filling is the adjective you’ll remember. Ideal for families.
