This is Mexican food 101, and it always delivers on a promise. The pull here is the location, consistency, generous portions and reasonable prices. Plenty of seating practically negates any wait time, even on weekend evenings. There's a large, pleasant two-level dining room that sports a number of booths around the perimeter and tables in the middle (booths are preferred seating); a colorful scheme keeps the vibe upbeat from the moment you enter. Good things to try: queso fundido, shrimp basted in garlic sauce and sizzling chicken fajitas. We’re also partial to the carne asada and the bowls of lime-laced chicken soup that come with meals. Service is friendly and efficient. Just know that it lacks the energy, excitement and, in some cases, authenticity found at Pilsen restaurants. Still, the margaritas are downright festive.
