LAVO New York Restaurant Review:

A diner's age (or youthful spirit) might be the determining factor in one's opinion of this Midtown restaurant. Like its Las Vegas sibling, scene-y LAVO prides itself as much on its celebrity diners as it does the stylized Italian fare it serves for the moneyed set (and those who love them). Prices are high, but regulars pay for the privilege of just being there. Portions are big, too, so there's no need to over-order. Appetizers range from seared sea scallops to Kobe stuffed rice balls with spicy marinara, but the big salads are best (we like the goat cheese and beet salad). The whipped ricotta and Kobe meatball might be the most satisfying item on the menu to the carnivore, but the USDA Prime steaks, including a 12-ounce center cut filet and 14-ounce New York strip, may also tempt. Diners with expense accounts should consider splurging on a steak---otherwise stick to the salads. Or go right to dessert: the panna cotta cheesecake or warm chocolate bread pudding hit the sweet spot. After dinner, descend to the club to dance it all off.
