If you’re searching for a good spot for an after-work drink or three, and one that serves delightful small plates, too, head to Lelabar. It’s chic and sleek with an upscale-casual vibe. The wraparound dark wood bar takes up most of the narrow room, yet the tin-ceilinged space never feels cramped (though it can be a little loud). Known for its enormous wine list --- over 150 globe-spanning choices, many of which are available by the glass --- this West Village wine bar and eatery serves food that definitely rises above typical bar grub. You’ll find elegantly presented pressed sandwiches: prosciutto with melted Fontina and lemon gremolata; sautéed red bell pepper with red onion and eggplant. For lighter fare, the house-made fennel in caramelized citrus sauce is irresistible, or snack from a made-to-order cheese and meat platter.
