Lou Boccardi's Restaurant Review:
This neighborhood pizza joint’s claim to fame is St. Louis-style pies, with the requisite cracker-thin crust and Provel cheese (it’s a culturally specific food, a lot like peanut butter or vegemite: either you grew up with it and love it or you didn’t and you don’t). The salads, appetizers and Italian entrées like spaghetti, gnocchi and tortellini are pleasant but play second fiddle to pizza. Likewise, the beers and bar are more reassuring than inspiring. Even the ultra-casual décor didn’t change much during a renovation --- it still feels right to the customers who come back generation after generation for the same flavors they grew up with.
