Since 1983, The Maine Diner has been the big stop for tourists moving from the south to wilder landscapes Downeast, seeking some authentic Maine charm and home-style cooking. Patrons come for nostalgic dishes such as diner meatloaf and New England boiled dinner, but also for the famous lobster pie, chowder, Yankee pot roast, traditional fried seafood platters and the she-crab soup. If you're a clam lover, the Clam-o-Rama platter is for you, including a cup of clam chowder, a combination of fried whole Maine clams, clam strips and a clam cake. You can also find lobster, creamy homemade mac ‘n’ cheese, shepherd’s pie and pulled pork. There are a wide variety of sandwiches and burgers from which to choose, and the breakfast menu is bountiful in true diner style. Grapenut and Indian puddings are a good finale to a comfortable meal, and pies are homemade daily. A limited selection of wine and beers, including Maine’s Shipyard Ale, is available.
